A Successful weekend for Stocksbridge tennis It was a successful weekend of tennis for Stocksbridge Tennis Club players of all ages, which ended with 3 more trophies for the trophy cabinet. 14 year old Luke Naylor from Stocksbridge competed against players from other clubs all over Yorkshire in Hull on Saturday and Sunday in the under 14 ‘Road to Wimbledon’ competition. Luke qualified for the Yorkshire County Final after beating Christopher Taylor from Penistone in the final of the Stocksbridge Road to Wimbledon tournament which was held during May. On Saturday Luke joined 16 other winners from other Yorkshire clubs, he played two matches, winning his first one 6-1, 6-0 and the second 6-2, 6-4, which meant he qualified for the semi-final on Sunday. Returning to Hull for an early start on Sunday Luke beat Oliver Veseley from nearby Thongsbridge Tennis Club 6-4, 6-4 putting him into the final against Mason Sheridan – Hawley. Babolat's powerful, spin friendly Pure Aero replaces the AeroPro Drive, one of the most popular racquets on the market. With an upgraded aerodynamic beam and a higher swingweight, this racquet has the potential to pulverize the ball. The Pure Aero also offers a more comfortable playing experience than previous models, thanks in part to the elongated grommet holes that allow the strings to absorb more vibrations. Babolat's FSI Spin Technology features wider spacing between the cross strings to create additional bite, and it also increases the comfort level thanks to a more open and comfortable stringbed. From the baseline our playtesters could detonate winners on offense or get themselves back into a point with one swing. At the net our team could strike volleys with a solid response, but it was serving that proved to be the highlight of this playtest. Our team was taking control of points by bombing flat serves or throwing their opponents off balance with massive spin. Tapping into that same level of power and spin enabled our testers to rip returns without sacrificing control. With all of the Pure Aero's positive performance attributes, it might just be our favorite racquet from this popular line.
THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, WIMBLEDON, COMMONLY KNOWN SIMPLY AS WIMBLEDON, IS THE OLDEST TENNIS TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD, AND IS WIDELY CONSIDERED THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS.
IT HAS BEEN HELD AT THE ALL ENGLAND CLUB IN WIMBLEDON, LONDON SINCE 1877. IT IS ONE OF THE FOUR GRAND SLAM TENNIS TOURNAMENTS, THE OTHERS BEING THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN, THE FRENCH OPEN AND THE US OPEN. SINCE THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN SHIFTED TO HARDCOURT IN 1988, WIMBLEDON IS THE ONLY MAJOR STILL PLAYED ON GRASS.
